Pro Tour Dark Ascension ถือเป็นการแข่งขันที่ลุ้นระทึกจริงๆ ครับ ผู้ที่เข้ามาสู่รอบ 8 คน สุดท้าย พูดได้ว่ามีฝีมือระดับพระกาฬทั้งนั้น ได้แก่ Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa, Jelger Wiegersma, Mamoru Nagai, Lukas Blohon, Denniz Rachid, Brian Kibler, Jon Finkel และ Matthew Costa โดยเฉพาะ Jon Finkel นั้นต้องถือว่าเป็นผู้เล่นระดับตำนานที่ยังมีชีวิตอยู่ ดูพี่แกเล่นแล้วมันส์มาก
ทัวร์นาเม้นท์ครั้งนี้แข่งกันในรูปแบบของ Standard ครับ แข่งแบบ Best of 5 หรือใครชนะ 3 เกมก่อนเป็นผู้ชนะ เดคที่เข้าแข่งขันในรอบ 8 คนสุดท้ายมีที่น่าสนใจคือ มีเดค Delver of Secrets 4 คน (Jon Finkel, Jelger Wiegersma, Matthew Costa, Denniz Rachid) และ Huntmaster of the Fells 3 คน (Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa, Brian Kibler, Lukas Blohon) ส่วนคนที่เหลือเป็นเดค Black-Green Ramp (Mamoru Nagai) ที่เคยนำเสนอไปก่อนหน้านี้ และที่เป็นประเด็นสุดๆ คือ ทั้งหมดเป็นเดคตีครับ!
เรามาเข้าเรื่องการแข่งขันครั้งนี้กันก่อนครับ Pro Tour Dark Ascension รอบ 8 คนสุดท้าย ไฮไลท์ของการแข่งขันอยู่ที่รอบรองชนะเลิศในเกมระหว่าง Jon Finkel ผู้เล่นที่เป็นตำนานของ Magic The Gathering ในเดค Spirit Delver พบกับ Brian Kibler ใช้เดค Huntmaster ทั้งคู่เล่นกันได้อย่างสูสีและผลัดกันแพ้ผลัดกันชนะ จนสกอร์มาเสมอที่ 2-2 ต้องตัดสินกันในเกมที่ 5 และท้ายที่สุดก็เป็น Brian Kibler ที่สมหวังด้วยการใช้ Triple Galvanic Blast!!! ปิดเกม ถือเป็นเกมการแข่งขันระดับตำนานที่ต้องจดจำไปอีกนาน มันส์ทั้ง 5 เกมเลยครับ สุดยอดจริงๆ และความระทึกยังไม่หมด ในรอบชิงชนะเลิศนั้นเป็นการพบกันระหว่าง Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa กับ Brian Kibler ซึ่งทั้งคู่ใชเดค Huntmaster แบบเหมือนกันเป๊ะๆ ขนาด Sideboards ยังเหมือนกันเลย (ทั้งคู่น่าจะอยู่ทีมเดียวกัน) แสดงถึงความแข็งแกร่งของเดค Huntmaster ได้เป็นอย่างดี ซึ่งรอบชิงชนะเลิศก็เล่นกันเดือดสมกับเกมเพื่อตัดสินแชมป์ แล้วท้ายที่สุดก็เป็น Brian Kibler ที่สมหวังอีกครั้ง ด้วยการเอาชนะ Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa ไปแบบเส้นยาแดงผ่าแปด ด้วยสกอร์ 3-2 เกม คว้าแชมป์ Pro Tour Dark Ascension อย่างยิ่งใหญ่ ส่วนข่าวร้ายหลังจากจบการแข่งขันก็คือ ราคาของการ์ด Huntmaster of the Fells ตอนนี้พุ่งขึ้นไปจะ $30 แล้วครับ ของมันแรงจริงๆ
มาเก็บตกกันต่ออีกนิด ในการแข่งขัน Pro Tour Dark Ascension ก็สังเกตได้ว่าไม่มีใครเล่นเดค Control เลย มันเกิดอะไรขึ้น? ทำไมมีแต่เดคตี! ซึ่งดูจากภาพรวมของเดคแล้วต้องบอกว่าเดค Control มาตอนนี้นั้นเกิดลำบาก ถ้าไม่ฆ่าดุจริงๆ เพราะเดคฟ้า/ขาว นั้นมี Spirit Delver เป็นตัวหลักที่มาเทิร์นแรกของเกม แถมยังผุดกองทัพ Spirit ได้จากแลนด์ Moorland Haunt อีก และล่าสุดมีพ่อ Drogskol Captain ที่ช่วยเพิ่มพลัง Combo ต่อเนื่องด้วย Phantasmal Image ที่เสริมพลังกองทัพ Spirit ขึ้นไปเอง จะใช้ใบล้างกระดานสุ่มสี่สุ่มห้าก็ไม่ได้ เพราะอาจโดน Mana Leak สวนหน้าหงาย พูดได้ว่าถ้าหากโดนลง Spirit Delver ในเทิร์นแรกๆ ได้ ก็มีเจ็บหนักหรือถึงขั้นปิดเกมได้เลยครับ เพราะมันสามารถ Combo กับ Ponder ได้ ทำให้โอกาสแปลงร่างเป็นแมลง 3/2 มีมากขึ้น ตบทีนตับๆ
ส่วนเดค เขียว/แดง นั้นก็สุดๆ ในเรื่องความเร็วจากการเร่ง Mana ด้วย Rampant Growth และ Sphere of the Suns หากขาดๆ เกินๆ ก็ใช้ Green Sun's Zenith หา Birds of Paradise มาแก้ขัดไปก่อน นอกจากนี้ยังมีสัตว์ยักษ์ Inferno Titan กับ Primeval Titan ลงมาให้ใจแป๊ว แถมยังมีปีศาจตัวใหม่อย่าง Huntmaster of the Fells มาคอยหลอกหลอนอีก ตบท้ายด้วย Combo แลนด์ Inkmoth Nexus กับ Kessig Wolf Run เผลอชอตเดียวก็ไปสวรรค์ ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่มันมักต้องมีอะไรหลุด เพราะดักได้ไม่หมด ถ้าโชคดีดักหมดก็อาจโดน Thrun, the Last Troll ลงมาเซอร์ไพร์สทำลายความหวัง ถ้าเดค Control มือแรกไม่ดีจริงๆ นี่ โอกาสต่อต้านมีน้อยครับ
